Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 17-Sep-2026
- Introduction — This Privacy Policy explains how MAHA (Mother Approved Health Advisor) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our mobile app, professional interface, and related services (the Platform). Because MAHA handles information about your food choices, allergens, and health preferences, we take your privacy seriously. By using the Platform, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
- Who This Policy Covers — This policy applies to consumers who use the app to scan products, dieticians and nutritionists who offer consultations, advertisers, and visitors to our website. Some information is shared between users and the professionals they connect with, and between family members on a shared account, as described below.
- Information You Provide — When you create an account, we collect your name, email, password, date of birth, contact number, and location such as country, state, and city. To personalize your experience, you can add a safety profile that includes your allergens, dietary preferences, and health conditions you want the app to monitor. You choose what to add, and you can edit or remove it at any time.
- Health and Dietary Information — MAHA is built around your food and ingredient preferences, so much of what you share relates to your health. This includes allergens, dietary preferences, health conditions, your scan history, and any notes you keep. We use this information to personalize your product reviews and warnings. MAHA provides ingredient awareness and education, not medical care, so the information you add and the reviews you see are not a medical diagnosis or a medical record.
- Family Profiles and Children — If you use family profiles, you can add household members, including children aged 12 and older, with their name, profile type, date of birth, dietary preferences, allergens, and health conditions. Family profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian. We do not allow child profiles under the age of 12, and we handle family member information in line with COPPA, GDPR, and CCPA where they apply.
- Scan and Usage Information — When you scan a product, we collect the scan and its results, and we keep your scan history so you can review trends over time. We also automatically collect standard technical and usage data, such as device type, operating system, app version, and how you use the Platform, to operate, secure, and improve it.
- Account Sign-In Information — You can create an account with your email and verify it with a one-time passcode (OTP), or sign in with Google or Apple. If you use social sign-in, we receive basic profile information from that provider to set up and secure your account. We do not receive your social account password.
- Professional and Consultation Information — If you connect with a dietician or nutritionist, we share the information needed to provide the consultation, such as your relevant profile details and the reason for your request, and we process booking, scheduling, messaging, and payment information. If you register as a professional, we collect your professional details and verification information, including your NPI number, certifications, license documents, and government ID where you provide them.
- Community Content — MAHA includes a community where you can post, comment, like, report, and share images such as product labels. Content you post in community spaces is visible to other users. You are responsible for what you share, and you should not post another person's private or medical information.
- Payments — Consultation payments, subscriptions, and featured placements are processed by our payment providers. We do not collect or store your full card details. We receive limited transaction information needed to process bookings, hold consultation funds in escrow, release payouts, manage subscriptions, and handle refunds and disputes.
- Advertising — MAHA shows promotional banners and in-app advertisements from health-focused partners, and uses an advertising provider. Ads may be shown based on limited signals such as location, dietary preferences, or scan behavior, subject to privacy review. We do not sell your personal information. If you apply to advertise, we collect your business and campaign details.
- How We Use Your Information — We use your information to create and manage accounts, personalize scans and warnings, keep your scan history, connect you with professionals, run the community, process payments, verify professionals, deliver relevant ads, send notifications you have chosen, support safety and moderation, respond to support requests, improve the Platform, and meet legal obligations.
- How We Share Information — We share information with service providers who help us run the Platform, such as hosting, payment processing, verification, analytics, notifications, and advertising. We share information with professionals you choose to connect with, and with other users when you post in the community. We may also share information to comply with the law, protect safety and rights, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell your personal information.
- Notifications — With your permission, we send notifications about scan results, ingredient warnings, product recalls, community activity, consultation updates, messages, and promotions. You can manage notification preferences in the app and on your device.
- Your Choices and Rights — You can view and edit your profile and safety flags, manage family profiles, control notifications, export your scan data, read our policies, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information under laws such as GDPR and CCPA. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
- Data Retention — We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform and meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations. Some records, such as transaction history, may be kept longer where required. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
- Account and Data Deletion — You can delete your account at any time from settings or by contacting us. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information, except content you shared in the community that others may rely on, and information we must keep for legal, tax, or dispute reasons.
- Data Security — We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and payments are handled by trusted providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your login details safe.
- International Users — MAHA may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. By using the Platform, you understand your information may be transferred to countries with different data protection laws, and we take steps to protect it as described here.
- Changes to This Policy — We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on the Platform and update the effective date below. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the update.
